There are times I am inspired by the cocktail gods to create something super creative and delicious with what seems like no effort at all. Then there are times, like this week, where I look around my bar cart and pray for the boozy inspiration to be bestowed upon me. After staring at things like Limoncello, Proscecco, Rose simple syrup, and racking my brain for what seems like hours, my adaptation of a Bella Donna was born.
It just goes to show you sometimes the seemingly most difficult cocktail to come up with can be one of the most delicious!
3 Ounces of white rum
1 1/2 Ounce of Limoncello
1/2 Ounce of Rose Syrup ( 1/4 if you are a bit sensitive to simple syrups)
1/3 Of a lemon plus more for garnish
Pinch of Sugar
Combine the rum, Limoncello, Rose syrup, and juice of 1/3 of a lemon in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for approximately 20 seconds or until the Rose syrup has fully dissolved. Pour into a chilled glass. Add proscecco directly to the glass, no need to shake this, the bubbles will mix itself into the previous mixed cocktail. I then added a pinch of sugar to the top of the cocktail. You can add the sugar to the 1st step when you combine most of the ingredients to the cocktail shaker, but I personally love the visual effect the sugar mixing with the Proscecco bubbles give off. To me it just feels like the sugar has been transformed to liquid glitter dancing around the cocktail glass.
