If you are anything like me, you might be a tad bit obsessed with Amazon. There are times, ok at least several times a week, I find myself going down what seems like a never ending rabbit hole of things I aimlessly add to my cart. One such virtual binge, led me to this fabulous lavender simple syrup sample, which I instantly knew I had to have. Since it landed on my door step, I have been dreaming up cocktail combinations, but for some reason I just was not feeling my go to choice of vodka. So I decided to throw inhibitions to the wind and mix up a Gin, yep I said it, Gin Martini. I know, who have I become? In case you missed it, you can read all about my aversion of Gin right here.
Even more shocking than my use of Gin, is how much I adored this cocktail. The Lavender Grapefruit combination added the perfect amount of sweet and tart without being overbearing. I felt so very grown up with my Grapefruit Lavender Martini in hand ! All in all, I can’t believe I am saying this butI will definitely be putting Gin into my new cocktail rotation.
Grapefruit Lavender Martini
3 Ounces of Gin
1 1/2 Ounce of Dry Vermouth
1/2 once of Lavender Simple Syrup
1/4 of a Grapefruit + more for garnish
Add ice, Gin, Vermouth, Lavender simple syrup, and the juice of 1/4 of a grapefruit to a cocktail shaker filed with ice. Shake for about 30 -40 seconds, it takes a bit for the syrup to become completely absorbed. Lovingly Pour into a chilled Martini glass, garnish with grapefruit or lavendar. Sip, and be in awe that Gin could ever taste this fabulous.
With the wild success of this lavender syrup, I cannot wait to invent a few drinks with the Rose and Orange Blossom that also came in the sample pack. Any fun, creative suggestions?
