There are some weeks that by the time Thursday rolls around I am itching for a fun cocktail to decompress from a crazy week. Admittedly though the weeks I crave a fun drink the most are typically that week my bar cart is strikingly bare and truth be told I am usually in no mood to run around town to gather up the ingredients for an elaborate cocktail. This week I found my self scratching my head and raiding my fridge when I stumbled upon my home made Pickle Infused Vodka and came up with this painfully easy Martini.
I stumbled upon my 1st experience with Pickle Infused Vodka as a shot almost immediately after moving to Denver. While I am typically the last person to shy away from an exotic flavored shot- I have to admit I had my doubts about this mysterious green colored liquid. One shot and I was a believer in this dangerously fun infusion.
3 ounces of Vodka
3 ounces of Pickle Infused Vodka
2 cups of Ice
To Make the Pickle Infused Vodka
Purchase your favorite brand of pickles, when the last spear or two remain pour 1 1/2 cups of Premium Vodka into the jar with the left over pickle juice and remaining pickle. Seal the jar and place in the back of the fridge allow the jar to sit for 3 weeks to 1 month before drinking. While this infusion is great for mixing up fun cocktails my personal favorite way to drink it is by simply straining the mixture directing into a shot glass 🙂
To Make the Pickle Martini
Place 2 cups of ice into a shaker. Using a strainer, pour 3 ounces of the pickle infused vodka into the shaker. Make sure you use the strainer to avoid getting any left over pickle particles into the Martini. Pour 3 ounces of Premium Vodka into the shaker. Shake for approximately 20 seconds. Pour into a Martini Glass, add a pickle spear for garnish, and enjoy!
